Thank You for Your Interest in Volunteering
Thank you for your interest in joining the Good Neighbour Program. This volunteer initiative is led by the Seniors’ Centre for Excellence in collaboration with the Township of Mapleton, working together to support the wellbeing, independence, and quality of life of local seniors.
Our volunteers provide support in simple, meaningful ways, such as assisting with household tasks, picking up groceries, yard maintenance, or offering friendly companionship over coffee. Every contribution makes a difference, whether through time, practical skills, or a caring presence.
We believe that time, talents, and compassion are the foundation of a strong community, where neighbours support one another with care and respect.
Community Safety & Trust
The safety and wellbeing of both seniors and volunteers is our highest priority. To help ensure the Good Neighbour Program remains a safe and trusted environment:
- Volunteers must be bona fide residents of the local area.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required for all volunteers. This can be applied for online at no cost. An official support letter will be provided to assist with the application process.
Volunteer Code of Conduct
As a Good Neighbour Program volunteer, you agree to:
- Treat all seniors, volunteers, and community members with dignity, respect, and kindness.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and respect confidentiality at all times.
- Follow all community safety guidelines and procedures.
- Decline any task that feels unsafe, unclear, or outside your comfort level. You are never expected to undertake any activity that makes you feel uncomfortable.
A Friendly Reminder
This community is built on trust, care, integrity, and mutual support. If you have any questions, concerns, or require guidance at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out to jbrown@mapleton.ca or HEdwards@mapleton.ca. We are here to support you, and your safety will always come first.
